Introduction
Mechanical engineering technology is a branch of technology science which deals with machines, tools, and equipment. Mechanical Engineering Technology is the application of engineering principles and technological developments for the creation of useful products and production machinery. It is a fact that industries cannot produce any product without machines. In other words, industries cannot run without Mechanical EngineeringTechnology.Indeed, Mechanical Engineering education is an ideal preparation for working and living in a technological world.
There is a great demand for technically trained manpower in Mechanical field. To meet technical requirements, Department of Mechanical Technology at Government College of Technology Swabi is established with an aim to produce professionally and technically sound Mechanical Technologists that can fulfill the national and international needs of the day. The department presently offer a Diploma of Associate Engineering D.A.E in Mechanical Technology.
The D.A.E MechanicalTechnology is three (03) years program, including theoretical subjects with the majority of practical work. Students enrolled in Mechanical Technology at GCT Swabi are provided with in-depth knowledge and technical skills exactly according to the modern industry demands and technological needs. The Department of Mechanical Technology strictly follows the explicitly designed revised curricula by the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC). Mechanical engineering technologists are expected to apply current technologies and principles from the machine and product design, production and material, and manufacturing processes
Practical work in laboratories is an essential part of the curriculum. Almost all subjects taught are augmented by practical’s in the laboratories/workshops. The Department is supported by well-equipped laboratories having state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. It has the following laboratories:

– Metal Work Shop
– Welding Shop
– Wood Work Shop
– Foundry Shop
– Drawing Lab
